Chairman Mao lookalike attracts crowd in China's Shandong province
The 58-year-old Xu Rulin always attracts crowd on the street because he is a #ChairmanMao lookalike! Can you imagine walking down the street and running into Chairman Mao?
Xu is an actor who started his acting career 40 years ago. He decided
to portray Mao when he was young and people continued telling him that
he looked like the late #Chinese leader.
From simply walking, or acting out speeches to practicing calligraphy,
Xu tries to imitate Mao in every way. To make himself more like Chairman
Mao, Xu always puts on makeup before he goes out.
Chairman Mao, or translated as Mao Zedong, was the founding father of the People’s Republic of China. He was the main founder and leader of the Chinese Communist Party and the People’s Liberation Army. He is now still very much admired as a proletarian revolutionary with many other titles by people around the world.
For Xu, it wasn’t until 2013 that he was hired by a film director to play Chairman Mao, and then became typecast in the role. Now many people request photos to be taken with him when meeting him.
