A cash transport vehicle spilled millions of dollars in bundled
Over HK$15 million (US$1.93 mln) were gone in minutes along #GloucesterRoad as drivers and pedestrians scurried to grab the notes.
Not so fast, say the authorities. “Any person who finds the relevant
bank notes should return them to police as soon as possible, or they may
be committing a theft,” police warned in a statement.
The armored van was transporting a total HK$525 million (US$67.64 mln) in cash, according to the police. Three boxes filled of HK$15.23 million (US$1.96 mln) were lost during the transportation.
British security company #G4S which is responsible for transporting the cash said it expected to be liable for the loss of millions.
Sheeta Leung Hui-kwan, a spokeswoman for G4S Hong Kong, said an internal probe was underway, but initial findings blamed a van door malfunction.
